California Forest Fires - October 2003

These images were taken from the MODIS Rapid Response Project at NASA/GSFC site (http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/ and are copyright of that organisation) though enhanced by me.

The first was taken by the Terra satellite at 18.35 UTC on the 26-10-2003 and clearly shows the widespread and disastrous nature of the forest fires.  The second was taken by the Aqua satellite on the 27th and  differences can be seen.  The scale is the same though the orientation of the satellite pass is different.  The third was taken on the 28th.
